(I have started a new category for these posts called Amanda Marcotte’s Misandry.)

My last post on Amanda Marcotte has generated a lot of hits.  First Snark sent it to the mens rights reddit.  Then it got sent to Instapundit/Glenn Reynolds.  My thanks to the both of you.  Since then that post has been linked at Dr. Helen, American Power, and elsewhere.  The daily hitcount for yesterday and especially today has been far beyond anything I have ever had.  That being said there have been some interesting reactions.

The first is from Mara who commented here on the blog.  (There was some question whether Mara was Maura from this post who was obsessed with my genitalia.    I checked the IP addresses and they are clearly two different people.)  She tried to use the fact that Mr. Ball once slapped his daughter as an excuse to justify the feminist totalitarianism used against him in anti-family court. Here is what Mr. Ball had to say about that:

When I got the Court Complaint form the box was checked that said Domestic Violence Related. I could not believe that slapping your child was domestic violence. So I looked up the law. Minor custodial children are exempted. Apparently, 93% of American parents still spank, slap or pinch their children. To this day I still wonder if Freyer would have made this arrest if it had been the mother that had slapped the child.

This site I pulled that quote from is thomasjamesball.com, a website recording all of the facts about what happened to Mr. Ball.  If this was as simple as Mr. Ball being a violent man, then why is there an attempt to erase all knowledge about him at places like wikipedia?

Worse than Mara, we have a conservative who responded to Glenn Reynolds defending the anti-family court system:

Assistant Village Idiot here. People who have a hair across their ass in general about the family court system are trying to keep the Thomas Ball story alive as if he is some kind of victim. In his efforts to have unsupervised visits with his daughter, he was told to have his visits supervised by Monadnock Family Services. He refused because he blames them for his problems.

I deal with that agency all the time, though not the children’s services – I have for 30 years. They are entirely reasonable people who make adjustments and accommodations for people who don’t like them or are suspicious of them all the time. Hell, they are a mental health center, so most of their clients are difficult and suspicious. They are not some Orwellian controlling agency. Ball decided that being pissy and proving that he was right about one incident ten years ago was more important than seeing his daughter. He’s no victim.

Family courts may indeed be prejudiced against fathers – I hear that, but I don’t know. I’ve certainly dealt with many cases of NH courts ruling in favor of fathers in custody disputes, though, and I don’t see a massive trend here. It pays to remember that MFS cannot tell its side of the story because of confidentiality, and that some pathological people hide by trying to tie themselves to legitimate causes. Wolves hide in sheep’s clothing, because it doesn’t do any good to hide in wolves’ clothing, does it?

Here is the blog of the guy that wrote that.

Again, the question has to be asked, if it’s this simple then why is there an attempt to hide what Mr. Ball did from places like wikipedia?  This guy says he has had no dealings with children’s services and really doesn’t know if anti-family courts are prejudiced against fathers.  Those of us who do know, know that anti-family courts are prejudiced against men.  We have decades of evidence proving that fact.

Amanda Marcotte has finally responded to this on her twitter:

@AmPowerBlog Yep. It’s not uncommon for abusers to turn to self-harm to continue exerting control over their victims. http://chzb.gr/lLvaEz

Glenn Reyonds asked (most likely rhetorically) if Amanda Marcotte said the original quote from manboobz.  Since she is now defending it, there should be no question it was Amanda Marcotte.

Take a look at her link.  It’s about a criminal who barricaded himself in a hotel room with a woman.  At the end of the standoff, the man decided to shoot himself in the chest in an attempt to not be arrested by police.  The woman he was with was completely unharmed.  In Amanda Marcotte’s deluded mind, this man was shooting himself to screw a woman over.  What Amanda Marcotte said makes about as much sense as saying that UFOs were involved in this incident.

When it comes to committing suicide what group is doing it the most?  Men.  Divorce radically increases the chances that a man will commit suicide. Rather than recognize this as the tragedy it is and recognize the part that anti-family courts are playing in ending these men’s lives, Amanda Marcotte is claiming that men who commit suicide are doing it to screw over a woman.  The only logical conclusion that can be drawn from this is that Amanda Marcotte does not think men are human beings.

    Typical feminist, then?

  3. I can’t wait until the fair and balanced third-wave feminists denounce Amanda Marcotte for her satanic level of misandry.

    *crickets*

  4. Amanda Marcotte is employing a very feminine thought process. Thomas Ball’s actions were brought about by legislation agitated for by people just like her and her sister witches at NOW. Should any responsibility for his death be attributed to anything other than his character, chances are it will find its way to those who erected the legal structure that tormented him – ie her. Amanda Marcotte has blood on her hands, and like most women, she has a very, very keen sense of what could come back and bite her.

She’s going on the offensive because we all know how good it is as a defense.

  5. Actually, I pointed out Mr. Ball’s violence toward his 4-year-old in response to a comment suggesting that he was treated as vicious simply because he had a penis. However, Mr. Ball did exhibit violent behavior. Therefore, I pointed out that this may have been the reason that he was treated as vicious, rather than the fact that he has a penis.

If Mr. Ball had simply his small child a few smacks on the butt like a normal person, and had been treated as vicious by the courts, I would be outraged. However, he slapped her hard enough that she bled. Across the face. For licking his hand. I think there must be better case studies than his for this cause.

    • But does the punishment match the crime?

      • I don’t think most punishments in our country match the crime, no. If they did, our justice system would be accused of dispensing cruel and unusual punishment every time a crime is cruel or unusual (which is often).

    • Case studies, Mara? Done by whom? You really *are* locked inside your paradigm.

Your mother may love you, but if I were your father, I’d be ashamed at your weakness of critical thought.

The very moment that you suggest ‘case studies’, the ridiculousness of your position should silence you. If there were anyone independent and reputable doing ‘case studies’, Thomas Ball would be alive. This is precisely what his suicide was about!

Stay in school, get a HS diploma, and if you go to college try to remember that everybody has an agenda.

      • Independent from what? Reputable according to whom? You could do such studies, Ecclesiastes. But maybe you don’t want to, for some reason that I could never fathom, with my obviously inferior education and lack of critical thinking ability. 😉 Oh, this cursed vagina, which makes my mind so feeble! 😉

        • Almost there Mara! You’re asking the right questions now!

Independent from what? Reputable according to whom? Exactly! Keep going Mara. You can figure this out.

No. I couldn’t do such studies, by the way. No one can! It’s currently illegal. The records of family courts are always sealed. That is some of what Tom Ball was pointing out.

I understand you have had an inferior education. My daughter did as well. However, she was my child and I looked to her instruction. She was able to think clearly within a year of graduating High School ( class of ’06 with honors, blah blah big whoop ).

It was not so with my younger daughter. My younger one, fully in the influence of her mother, didn’t fare so well. She graduated in 2009 with high honors ( whatever that means ) from the same ‘Blue Ribbon’ ‘Class 5’ ‘Best in state’ High school ( blah blah blah, yada yada ) and garnered a scholarship that the older one didn’t.

I am shamed by the younger. She shows that I wasn’t strong enough, that I didn’t try hard enough. I didn’t love her enough. I failed.

Today, the older lives independently and assists her mother financially. The younger flunked out, isn’t even trying to get a job, has no social life, refuses to learn how to drive a car, and stays at home browsing the internet all day every day. She has become her mother’s house pet.

This has nothing to do with your vagina, which you shouldn’t curse. I’m sure it’s lovely and quite fragrant. This is about disciplined thought. Look up ‘Socratic method’.

        • I’m so sorry to hear about your failures as a parent and those of that stupid female you were unfortunate enough to marry, Ecclesiastes. You should have known she’d ruin one of the children under your care. She is but a woman, after all.

But you might want to try approaching strangers on the internet without that baggage; you’ve come to some severely erroneous conclusions by biasing your perceptions through that prism.

        • Mara, you coward, you just failed.

You quit trying to think. It’s not that you’re stupid, you’re not. It’s not that you’re female, text transmitted via http hasn’t any gender.

Safe in your cocoon of deliberate ignorance, your head buried in the sand, you’re surely thinking you’ve escaped an embarrassing situation. Anyone who reads this thread, ever, will see what a coward Mara is.

Maura may even be embarrassed and insulted if she is ever confused with you.

Better change your name to something else.

  6. Amanda Marcotte’s thinking on what men do is very conspiratorial. That’s what her accusations of men hurting themselves to secretly attack women are, conspiratorial. The “patriarchy” feminists believe in is a conspiracy theory so no one should be surprised by this.

New research has shown that conspiracy theorists are more willing than the general population to be a part of a conspiracy similar to those they believe in. Amanda Marcotte’s thinking is conspiratorial so what she is telling us is not that men are going to self harm to harm women, but that she is willing to hurt men through such means.

  7. “He’s no victim.”

indeed, the victim is never man.

Father’s Day tough on dads without visitation rights

As we all look forward to this Father’s Day, the best gift any woman could give to a father is the acknowledgment of the irreplaceable value men and fathers bring to a relationship, to children and what they afford the greater society. What an abject tragedy, what a horrific loss it is for any child to endure a life apart from their father.
The last 30-plus years have unfortunately not been kind to fathers and more importantly their children. It is today an unfortunate fact that of the approximate 70 million fathers in the U.S., 35 million are divorced. Of those 35 million fathers, as a result of a corrupt anti-family court system, approximately 84.4 percent have been relegated to the status of non-custodial parent.
    Family courts are wrong;
I have not seen my child in over two years.
It is not fathers “abandoning” their children, it’s feminism, mothers and a biased family court system conspiring for financial gain and legal leverage to secure court orders denying fathers their rights to their children and children their rights to their father.
If you want fathers to act more like fathers, get government out of the way, stop policies that encourage extended court litigation, bogus restraining orders and willful violations of visitations by the custodial parent with no consequences by the courts.

  12. I think most men commit suicide because they cannot handle their emotions. I don’t think it’s because they want to hurt women.

  13. I absolutely oppose partial-birth abortion, and every other kind of abortion except in cases where the mother’s life is in danger. Abortion is murder, and should be treated as regular murder… ie, it’s only defensible in self-defense.
