Last year, ReasonTV did a video about female libertarians and though there were the usual delusional excuses for female disinterest, most of the comments pointed out how beneficial big government has been to women.

I think libertarians somewhat realize the fact that women’s status and government spending/power are inextricably linked, but they haven’t yet discovered just how massively feminism contributes to ALL the phenomena they have identified as problems.

This gets to what the Achilles Heel of Libertarianism is.  Until Libertarianism is willing to deal with the fact that women are the biggest supporters of big government and consistently vote for politicians promising the largest expansions of government, Libertarianism will remain a marginal political party and movement.  (Libertarianism also has a similar problem with border security issues as a lack of border security, which Libertarians are for, effectively is importing more big government voters.  However, this does not compare to the problem of women voting for the worst big government politicians out there.)

Expecting women to reject big government is like expecting government employees to reject big government (and not so ironically the majority of non-military and non-law enforcement government employees are female).

  1. The ReasonTV video mentioned

I left a few comments at the time the video was posted last year, the first of which was:

As has been said a few times already, there aren’t many female libertarians because women have more to gain (in the short term) by empowering governments to destroy men and transfer their wealth to them via various means.

Government spending and power cannot be reigned in without crashing directly into the core assumptions of feminism. Republicans fail to realize this, and Libertarians do as well.

Search online for “The Misandry Bubble” for an explanation of these themes.

A woman with the handle libertarianlady responded, basically saying women had been tricked (“useful idiots”) into empowering government. To her it was more a matter of women failing to earn respect in a proper manner than feminism being a civilization destroying ideology. I told her TMB would explain that the stakes were far higher than this.

She privately messaged me saying she couldn’t find TMB on Amazon, and I directly sent her the link to the Futurist, imploring her to get back to me with her thoughts. She never did…

Even Libertarian women are still blaming men.

  2. Most of the sane and well-educated libertarians I know are well aware that women having the right to vote does not coincide with the pursuit of freedom.

In fact, as a libertarian myself, I firmly espouse the idea that the founding fathers set up a fairly ideal set of voting requirements. Most of colonies allowed only white men who were landowners to vote.

History has yet again revealed the wisdom of such requirements for the prosperity of a freedom-loving nation. Women, minorities, and the poor are far more likely to support all sorts of government intervention and redistributionism, which are antitheitcal to the libertarian concepts that each person is responsible for their own well-being, and that no person should be deprived of what is rightfully theirs.

As more groups have been unwisely enfranchised, government has grown larger, more powerful and more abusive. Now, we are no longer a free nation, nor does America even much pretend to be a democratic republic.

    • As soon as you added the qualifier “sane and well educated” to libertarians, you disqualified a lot libertarians. There are a lot of “libertarians” who are just interested in smoking pot (Bill Maher in the 90s), are pissed that Obama isn’t anti-war enough for them (Justin Raimondo), libertarians who are obsessed with being pro-choice or taxing churches, socialists who don’t want to call themselves socialists, etc.

Even with the sane and well educated libertarians they must realize their political ideology is DOA (not to mention freedom in general) until women can no longer vote.

  3. I watched that video and LoL’ed when one woman said that Libertarian women’s groups were needed so women could feel “safe.”

“Yes ma’am, you have a right to be concerned. Don’t go down that dark alley, there may be a Libertarian male, with Hayek on his Kindle.”

Don’t worry, I read it the day you posted it, and at least one or two more times since.
