Something you will hear occasionally is that the men’s rights movement will never take off because it requires playing the “victim card” making men look weak and stopping the MRM in its tracks.  The Overcoming Bias blog reporting about a post from Thursday’s blog repeated this.  This is wrong, and a comment on that blog entry explains why:

There’s a non-sequitur hiding in that ellipsis, but the first three sentences, divorced from the comments about ability to get laid, really are generally true.

Notice that economic and political movements which have aimed at shifting the balance of power/wealth to masses of men from elites have generally had aggressive, rather than supplicatory, rhetoric.

There is no need for the MRM to use the “victim card” at all.  The MRM has other options (including but not limited to aggressive rhetoric) so this is not a problem.  Sure the “victim card” won’t work, but that’s fine we’re not women.  We have better options at our disposal.
